Esri has released the latest version of the procedural 3D city-generation software: CityEngine 2018.0 with integration with Epic Games’ Unreal Studio toolset for creating real-time visualisations.

Features are:

- Integration with Unreal Studio for real-time visualisation: The Unreal "Datasmith" Exporter and the CityEngine template project have been upgraded to support Unreal Engine 4.19 (using Datasmith SDK 0.18).

- The new insertAlongUV operation has been added. This allows you to read a geometry asset (3D model, polygon mesh) from a file and inserts it along the current shape's uv coordinates by mapping the width and depth of the asset to the chosen uv-set.
- Transform 2D GIS Data into Smart 3D City Models
Esri CityEngine improves urban planning, architecture, and design. Use its 3D visualization power to see the relationships of projects, assess their feasibility, and plan their implementation. CityEngine helps you make quality decisions that benefit your community for decades.

-Build Flexible Scenarios Faster
Compare and analyze building proposals from every angle. See how they fit into your city’s overall vision for the future. Make as many scenarios as you need and add modifications. This saves you time and money.
