The most popular 3d softwares 3ds Max and Maya currently has subscription pricing of $1,545/year. It seems to be not an affortable price for small studio or artist to rent. Gradually, people start switching to Blender as it totally free and becoming more and more powerfully
Thus, Autodesk has to find the solution. They've anounced new version of 3ds Max and Maya called 3ds Max Indie and Maya Indie which costs $250/year subscriptions for the 3D applications available to artists earning under $100,000/year in revenue.
Both the 3ds Max Indie and Maya Indie programs give users access to full versions of the software, not cut-down versions like Maya LT, but are capped at one licence per user or per organisation.
In a post on the Stack Facebook group - which is focusing only on 3ds max stuff, Chip Weatherman, Autodesk’s chief product owner for 3ds Max describes the Indie deals as a “pilot program”.

The plans are currently available in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the US, for a limited time only. Autodesk is now considering whether to extend the offer or roll it out to other territories. Visit the 3ds Max Indie offer page | Maya Indie offer page
