Autodesk has released 3ds Max 2020.1 and finally we can see this feature. The feature that user can now Tear-off viewports, in particular, is an often-requested improvement for Max. You can float up to 3 viewport windows across multiple monitors, each of which is fully functional with its own configuration settings.

Other feature in this update is New Hotkey editor tool
-The new Hotkey Editor makes it easy to view and change existing keyboard shortcuts as well as save and load custom hotkey sets.
-Search for actions by either keyword or current hotkey assignment.
-Filter actions by current customization status and by group.

The recently introduced Chamfer modifier has been improved with:
-Updates include the new By Weight chamfer amount type, which allows you apply an absolute weight to an edge rather than interpolating between vertices.
-Chamfer depth can now be set on a per-edge basis.
-Radius Bias blends the chamfer size to the radius amount to help handle sharp corners.
-Edge Weight and Edge Depth are now available as inputs and outputs in the Data Channel modifier.

Other improvements in this release: autocomplete is now on by default in the MAXScript editor and the MAXScript API now makes it easier for users to enable autocomplete for MAXScript in 3rd party editors; performance-wise the Command panel is at least 70% faster with switching between sub-object modes in Edit Poly editing. On the subject of poly editing, it is now possible to double-click to select all contiguous faces, vertices, segments, etc. This will also work with Editable Spline objects and EditSpline and EditPoly modifiers, as well as with the Unwrap UVW modifier.

3ds Max Roadmap

The roadmap is showing an overview of the develope 3ds Max
There are something coming to next release of 3ds Max
Environment Layout: 3ds Max is often used to layout small to large environments but lacks dedicated tools for this workflow. Autodesk is exploring building procedural environment layout capabilities based on Bifröst to provide out of the box workflows (Bifrost is our procedural engine used in 3ds Max and Maya).

3D Booleans: To provide a modernized experience for 3D Boolean workflows, the team has worked on making complex volume intersection management simple in chamfering. Additionally, the team is looking at converging the different Boolean workflows to streamline the experience similarly to the work done with Shape Booleans.
