Developed by Scanline VFX artist Sebastian Schäfer - Storm, an interesting new standalone granular solver for simulating materials like sand and snow. It's a fast, intuitive, robust granular solver compatible with major DCC applications. It has been tested on “multiple workstations and laptops”, with the main limitation on the size of simulations being system RAM.

Features:

-Multithread:Modern architecture means Storm scales very well with multiple threads.

-Fast viewport:Accelerated viewport display. Millions of particles in real time on a standard modern workstation.

-Geometry import:Import geometry with: Obj // SD // ABC

-Output Data:Storm completed simulations as Alembic .abc caches, or as particles in Krakatoa’s .prt format or RealFlow’s .bin format. compatible with most major 3D apps

-Control: It supports stiffness controls and constraint forces, making it possible to simulate materials “from sand to jelly”, with animation controls planned for a future release.

-Future:That's only the start. Storm is a granular solver in a potential multisolver framework.

Availability

Storm is available for Windows only. A node-locked licence costs $279. Trial version is a save-disabled so you can download an try here!
